Triple-A — Tacoma Rainiers

RECAP: The Rainiers dropped their 2nd consecutive game, as Las Vegas catcher, and Athletics 2nd ranked prospect, Shea Langeliers continued to decimate Tacoma pitching with 2 more homers on Saturday. SS Mason McCoy (2x4, R, 2B) was the only Rainier to reach base twice. DH Zach Green (1x4), LF Marcus Wilson (1x4, RBI), 3B Ben Ramirez (1x4) and CF Billy Hamilton (1x4, 2B, RBI) all hit safely. Starter Asher Wojciechowski (5.0,7,5,3,1,5,2 HR) was tagged with his 4th loss of the season. RHP Riley Davis (0.0,4,5,4,1,0,HR) didn’t record an out. RHP Patrick Weigel (2.0,1,0,0,1,2) and RHP Riley O’Brien (1.0,0,0,0,0,0) didn’t allow a run in their combined 3.0 innings of relief.

OF NOTE:

  • C Joe Odom homered in 3-consecutive games (4/15–17) and also homered 4 of 5 games (4/13–17)…since April 13 he is batting .261 (12x46) with 8 runs scored, 4 doubles, 4 home runs, 7 RBI and 6 walks.
  • INF Sam Haggerty hit safely in 9 of 10 games (4/16–4/29), including homers in back-to-back games (4/28 and 4/29)… since April 16, he is batting .409 (18x44) with 8 runs scored, 2 doubles, 4 home runs, 14 RBI, 1 HBP, 1 walk and 6 stolen bases.
  • INF Mason McCoy has reached safely in 9 consecutive games, hitting safely in 8 of those (4/20-c), batting .344 (11x32) with 7 runs scored, 1 double, 1 home run, 5 RBI, 1 HBP, 5 walks and 2 stolen bases.
  • INF Erick Mejia hit safely in 7 of 8 games (4/16–26), batting .265 (9x34) with 6 runs scored, 5 doubles, 1 home run, 5 RBI, 5 walks and 4 stolen bases.
  • LHP Roenis Elias has tossed 6.1 scoreless innings over his first 5 relief appearances before making his first start on 4/27…overall he has limited opponents to a .177 (6x34) average, while walking 2 and striking out 6.
  • RHP Penn Murfee has tossed 8.0 scoreless innings over his first 5 appearances, going 2–0 with 2 save…overall he has limited opponents to a .043 average (1x23) while 2 walks, 1 HB and struck out 10 over 8.0 scoreless innings in relief.
  • 1B Zach Green has hit safely in 8 of his last 9 games (4/21-c) including an active 6-game hit streak…since April 21, he is batting .244 (10x41) with 6 runs scored, 1 double, 3 home runs, 7 RBI and 2 walks.
  • RHP Riley O’Brien has yet to allow a run 4 games (3.2 innings) since joining the Rainiers, striking out 5 while walking just 2.

Double-A — Arkansas Travelers

RECAP: The Travelers couldn’t overcome an early 5-run deficit as they dropped their 4th consecutive game 9–4. C Matt Scheffler (1x1, 2B, R, RBI, 3 BB) reached base all 4 times. CF Cade Marlowe (1x4, R, SB) returned to the lineup and stole his 8th bag of the season. DH Joe Rizzo (2x5) and SS Riley Unroe (2x4, 3B, R, SB) recorded multi-hit games. 3B Patrick Frick (1x4), 1B Jake Scheiner (0x3, R, RBI, BB), 2B Kaden Polcovich (1x4, BB) and LF Jack Larsen (0x4, BB) all reached base safely. Starter Connor Jones (5.0,8,8,8,5,4,2 HR) received his 2nd loss of the season. RHP David Ellingson (1.0,0,0,0,1,1) and RHP Travis Kuhn (2.0,0,0,0,0,3) turned in scoreless relief outings. LHP Rob Kaminsky (1.0,1,1,1,0,2,HR) also came on in relief.

  • OF Zach DeLoach opened the season with an 8-game hitting streak (4/8–19), batting .387 (12x31) with 7 runs scored, 3 doubles, 1 home run, 7 RBI, 5 walks and 1 stolen base…overall he has hit safely in 13 of 15 games, batting .266 (17x64) with 9 runs scored, 3 doubles, 1 tiple, 1 home run, 10 RBI, 9 walks and 1 stolen base.
  • INF Jake Scheiner has hit safely in 8 of his last 11 games (4/19-c), batting .290 (11x38) with 4 runs scored, 1 double, 8 RBI, 9 walks and 1 stolen base.
  • OF Cade Marlowe currently has a 7-game hitting streak, batting .313 (9x28) with 5 runs scored, 1 triple, 6 RBI, 2 walks and 5 stolen bases.
  • OF Jack Larsen has reached safely in 8 of 9 games since returning from the IL on April 19.
  • RHP George Kirby is 2–0 with a 1.37 ERA (3 ER, 19.2 IP) in 4 starts this season…he has limited opponents to a .191 (13x68) average, while walking 5 and striking out 25.

High-A — Everett Aquasox

RECAP: The AquaSox won in walk-off fashion Saturday, scoring in the bottom of the 9th to beat Spokane 7–6. RF Alberto Rodriguez (2x5, R, RBI, 2B) had the walk-off hit. SS Noelvi Marte (1x3, 2 R, 2 BB, SB) reached base 3 times, scoring the winning run. CF Victor Labrada (1x3, R, RBI, HR, BB) hit his 3rd homer of the season. DH Justin Lavey (1x5, R, 2 RBI, HR) hit his first longball of the season. 1B Spencer Packard (3x4, 2B, R, 2 RBI) led the way with 3 hits. C Andy Thomas (1x4, RBI) and 2B Axel Sanchez (1x3, R, RBI, BB) hit safely. Aquasox starter Tim Elliott (2.0,3,4,0,1,1) lasted 2.0 innings, but did not allow an earned run. RHP Julio Dilone (3.0,2,1,1,1,3), RHP Leon Hunter (2.0,2,1,1,0,0) and RHP Evan Johnson (2.0,0,0,0,1,2) all came on in relief of Elliott.

  • INF Noelvi Marte opened the season hitting safely in 7 straight games, April 8–16, batting .308 (8x26) with 5 runs scored, 2 home runs, 5 RBI, 7 walks and 1 stolen base…he has reached base in his last 6 games (4/24-c) batting .346 (9x26) with 7 runs scored 4 doubles, 1 home run, 3 RBI and 4 walks.
  • OF Spencer Packard has hit safely in 13 of 18 games to begin the season (4/8-c), batting .290 (20x69) with 11 runs scored, 6 doubles, 4 home runs, 16 RBI, 12 walks and 4 stolen bases.

Low-A — Modesto Nuts

RECAP: The Nuts shut out San Jose, getting just enough offense to win 3–0, and stretch their winning streak to 3 games. SS Edwin Arroyo (2x4, 2B, R, 2 RBI, HR) had the only 2 Nuts hits, homering for the 2nd straight game. DH Harry Ford (0x3, R, BB), 2B Brett Rodriguez (0x3, R, BB), 1B Robert Perez (0x2, RBI, BB), LF Randy Bednar (0x2, BB) and 3B Amador Arias (0x2, BB) all reached base safely. Starter Joseph Hernandez (6.0,3,0,0,2,7) twirled 6 shut-out innings. LHP Holden Laws (2.0,1,0,0,1,2) came on in relief and LHP Jorge Benitez (1.0,0,0,0,0,1) earned his 3rd save of the season.

OF NOTE:

  • SS Edwin Arroyo has reached base safely in his last 7 games (4/23-c) including hitting safely in 6 of those, and hitting 3 homers in his last 2 games (4/29–4/30)…since April 23, is batting .482 (13x27 with 2 doubles, 3 home runs, 12 RBI, 9 runs scored, 5 walks and 4 stolen bases.
